Bantam A Lady Royals win Gold at Bliss Carman Tourney

The Bantam A Lady Royals captured the gold medal at the Bliss Carman Invitational Tournament Saturday by defeating the George Street Crusaders 45-37. The Royals battled back from a 12 point deficit at half time to bring home their first gold medal of the season. The Player of the Game for the Royals was Brett Cole.

Earlier on Friday, the Royals kicked off their run to the finals with an exciting 40-29 victory over the host, Bliss Carman Eagles, in front of a full gym of Bliss Carman Middle School students in the tournament’s Spirit Game. Player of the Game for the Royals was Skeeter MacPherson.

Friday evening’s game against the Harry Miller Blue Bears was another win for the Royals. The final score was 47-26. Katelyn Porter was named Player of the Game.

The semifinal game on Saturday morning against the Nashwaaksis Nordics forced the Royals to play a full 32 minutes as the team was down 3 points with only 2 minutes left before Siobhan Murphy sank a three pointer to tie the game at 40. The final score of this nail biter was 44-43. Player of the Game for Riverview was Breanna Walchuck.

Bantam A Girls’ Lottery Prize Awarded

The Bantam A Girls’ Lottery was a great success!

The lucky winner of the $1250 prize was Mr. Roger Arsenault of Moncton. His ticket was the lucky one drawn at the team’s tournament on January 9th. Mr. Arsenault came to collect his prize during the tournament and the girls were on hand to congratulate him.

Thanks to all who supported this team fundraiser.

Bantam A Girls Finish First in Division

Bantam Royals won both their games on Saturday to finish in first place in their division.

The Royals won against Rothesay’s Harry Miller Blue Bears with a score of 55-24. Katherine Flynn was named Unsung Hero of the Game and Katelyn Dunnett took home the Player of the Game Award.

In their final game of the day the Royals played the Bedford Eagles and won with a score of 47-27. Congratulations to Brett Cole for winning the Unsung Hero of the Game and Danielle LeBlanc for winning the Player of the Game Award.

The Royals take on the Charlottetown Tigers Sunday morning at 10:30 in the crossover match. The Bronze Medal game is scheduled for 1:30, with the Gold Medal being decided at 3:00.

Lottery Draw for Bantam A Girls Team

The Bantam A Girls are hard at work selling tickets for their 50/50 draw where the lucky winner will receive a prize up to $1250!

Tickets are only available until January 9th when the draw will take place, so hurry to secure your chance to win!

Bantam A Girls Host Tournament

Kick off the New Year by coming out to support the Bantam A Girls as they host teams from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick this weekend.

The Royals open the tournament on Saturday with a game against the Harry Miller Blue Bears at noon and play again at 6pm against the Bedford Eagles.

Crossover games begin at 9am on Sunday with the Championship game getting underway at 3pm.

Bantam A Girls Season Opener

The Bantam A Girls Team opened their 2010-11 season with a 41-31 win over the Fredericton Y Eagles in front of an enthusiastic crowd this afternoon at RHS.

The Royals built a 5 point lead in the first quarter behind a couple of steals by Brett Cole that she immediately turned into baskets.

After halftime, the Eagles came out strong but the Royals withstood the charge as Danielle MacPherson converted four layups to extend the Royals’ lead to 15 points. All twelve girls on the team contributed to the victory.

Girls’ Provincial Tryout Schedule Change

Mini Girls’ and Bantam Girls’ Provincial team tryouts were scheduled to get underway on Wednesday, September 29th. At the request of the School District, these practices have been postponed and will be rescheduled if possible.

Please note that the other tryout sessions will proceed as previously scheduled. Mini girls’ tryouts will be held at Riverview Middle School on Oct 1 from 6:00-8:00pm, and Oct 3 from 1:00-3:00pm. Bantam Girls’ tryouts will be held Oct 3 from 3:00-5:00pm at Riverview High School.

Provincial Team Tryouts

Registration for the upcoming season is underway and that means tryouts for our Provincial Rep Teams will be coming up shortly. All participants must sign in at the beginning of each session. Please attend all sessions for your age group.

Mini Boys tryouts will be held at Riverview Middle School on Sept 30 from 6:00-7:30pm, Oct 2 from 9:00-10:30am, and Oct 3 from 3:00-5:00pm

Mini girls tryouts will be held at Riverview Middle School on Sept 29 from 6:00-7:30pm, Oct 1 from 6:00-8:00pm, and Oct 3 from 1:00-3:00pm.

Bantam Boys tryouts will be held Sept 30 from 7:30-9:00pm at Riverview Middle School, Oct 2 from 10:30am-12:00pm at Riverview Middle School, and Oct 3 from 1:00-3:00pm at Riverview High School

Bantam Girls tryouts will be held Sept 29 from 7:30-9:00pm at Riverview Middle School, and Oct 3 from 3:00-5:00pm at Riverview High School
