RMBA Night at the Don Grant Classic

Each fall Moncton hosts the Don Grant Classic Women’s University Basketball Tournament at the Moncton Coliseum. This is high caliber basketball which everyone (young and old, boys and girls) will enjoy.

Participating this year are teams from UNB, Acadia, Laval, St. FX, UPEI and the University of Saskatchewan

Friday, Oct 21, is RMBA Day/Night at the Don Grant Classic. Admission is free for kids (wear your RMBA jersey) and adults pay $10/day.

Games are at 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm. For more details go to their website at www.dongrantclassic.com

During the 6:00 pm game between UNB and Laval we will give away door prizes and have snacks for the kids.

The 8:00 pm game between St. FX and UPEI is very special for us because we will have 3 RMBA alumni playing!
This is a great opportunity for our kids to see what can be accomplished with determination and perseverance!

Vanessa Pickard, Jenna Jones and Katie Donahoe are all recent graduates of Riverview High School and all came through the RMBA program.

Vanessa Pickard plays for the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women
Jenna Jones plays for the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers
Katie Donahoe plays for the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers

Bring the kids out to the coliseum and enjoy some great basketball!

Girls Mini B Provincial Team Tryouts

We will be hosting try outs for our Mini Girls Provincial B team this coming weekend:

Friday, Sept 30 from 6:00 – 7:15 pm at Claude D. Taylor

Sunday, Oct 2 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Claude D. Taylor

Good Luck to all!

Junior Mini Program Begins on Saturday

Junior Mini boys and girls (ages 8 & 9) will have a pre-season session on Saturday, Oct 1, at the Riverview Middle School.

1. This session is an evaluation so we can observe the children and make fair teams
2. This is also a Bring-a-Friend session. This is an opportunity for your child to Bring-a-Friend (of the same age group) who is not registered, but would like to try it out for a practice to see if they might like it. (We will have staff on site to accept registrations).

The girls session on Oct 1 will be from 9:00 – 10:30 am.
The boys session on Oct 1 will be from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon.

Please Note:
This is the only session, all year, that the children will be at Riverview Middle School. We have chosen RMS because the large gym can readily accommodate many children.

The Junior Mini’s will start their season on Saturday, October 15, at Claude D. Taylor School.

They will play each Saturday at CDT in one of the following time slots.
9:00 – 10:30 am
10:30 – 12:00 pm
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
1:30 – 3:00 pm

You will receive a call from your child’s coach prior to this date to advise what time to attend on Oct 15th.

We look forward to seeing kids on the court!

Players will need indoor sneakers, shorts, t-shirt, and a water bottle. Within 1-2 sessions they will receive their team shirt.

House League and Provincial Teams Updates

The Mini (ages 10 & 11) and Bantam (ages 12 & 13) house leagues have completed their assessment and Bring-a-Friend sessions.

Our Mini and Bantam house league programs will return to the court on the weekend of Oct 15. We will use the next 2-3 weeks to make teams and fill the vacant coaching positions. The Bantam boys and girls will start on Friday evening, Oct 14, and the Mini boys and girls will start on Saturday, Oct 15.

You will be contacted prior to the 14th and 15th from your child’s coach to advise the time on their first day.

Right now, we’re getting our Provincial teams started.

Our Mini Boys B boys try outs are tomorrow night, Tuesday, Sept 27 at 6:00 pm at RMS.

Our Mini Girls B try outs will soon be announced.
